M.Yu was born 1950 in Hong Kong .His interest for marshal art started early .He started with Judo in 1964 but changed to TKD in 1965 .He was trainee under Kim Bok Man ho was the chief instructor for south east Asia at that time .He tested for his first 1-dan in 1969.And the same year started he to practise Hapkido under M.Kim Jin Pal .He was training both arts at the same time .They practised 2-4 hours every day 5-6 days a week .In 1970 he was tested for 1-Dan in Hap Ki Do .And at that time he was a member of Hong Kong demo team in both TKD and HKD They did demos on HK s television and was in all kind of marshal art magazine many times .M.Yu and his friends was the first group of black belts in TKD and HKD in Hong Kong .In 1973 was M.Yu tested to second Dan in Hapkido and in 1974 he moved to Sweden . When he arrived to Sweden he started to work in the restaurant business and didn’t have any spare time to teach .But when had some time of he use to go around to different Karate clubs to practise .There wasn’t so many marshal art school in Sweden at that time.
But in 1980 M.Yu got a new job as a buss driver with better working hours and more spare time. So then he opened his first school in Sweden .We did the first HKD demo in Stockholm at the Kings garden 1982 .In 1985 we move over Dojan to a new location in the south area of Stockholm .And in 1987 went M.Yu to USA meet Master Mike Wollmerhauser. Because
M.Mike hade created and systemizes the techniques in English .Most of the HKD system at that time just use wrist 1-? So it was very difficult to rember and have the same order on the techniques .At the same time he tested for 4-dan under M.Mike system.
. Master Mike is the only western guy that have trainee and take private from the founder of Hapkido Doju Choi yong sool. Master Yu invites Master Mike to Sweden twice 1988-90.
Three of M.Yu.s students went to Korea whit the help of M.Mike and got the honour to practice under Grand master Lim Hyun Soo 1992. Grand master Lim Hyun Soo is the student that have practice the longest time under the founder Doju Choi from 1965-1986
In 1996 went M.Yu to USA again to take part in a seminar whit Grand master Lim.The seminar was arrange buy M.Mike ho hade invite Grand master Lim from Korea. To day M.Yu got more school that is a part of over organisation , one in Malmo and one in Stockholm and one in Gothenburg .M.Yu trailing around and teach in the different schools .
In 2005 we went back to Korea to practice more with Grand master Lim and discus the future for over Hapkido and hove we should act to spread the HKD of Doju Choi Yong Sool in Sweden .M.Yu become the representing for Grand master Lims in Sweden and he got the highest rank of Jung Ki kwon system in Europe 7: th Dan .But the name of over organisation in Sweden in Jung moo Kwan and we use Grand master Lim as over technical adviser for the Hapkido techniques. But we also incorporate techniques from other styles that fit in to over system .Over Hap Ki Do is maybe not beautiful or flashig ,But very effective as self defence. Now day we focus more on the low kick then high flashig ones because it’s more effective and quicker in self defence.
